Those looking to play on a competitive travel team are invited to tryout for MGA North. We are proud to announce that our Teams division will now become MGA North. In collaboration with EVO, MGA North offers the North Shore's most comprehensive training for competitive teams.
The reciprocal connection between both organizations is designed to provide streamlined training and development of the best players from the North and South shores of Boston with one central administrative hub. Together with MGA, we are building the future of Volleyball in New England.
All MGA North Teams train together on the North Shore at one of three facilities:
Danvers Indoor Sports
St. John's Preparatory School (Danvers)
Bando Performance (Woburn)
a. We wanted to centralize and add support to all areas of the teams program.
b. EVO has worked very closely with MGA over the past couple years to create similar training and teams models
c. This collaboration allows for a centralized and streamlined approach to all aspects of the program.
- Increased Coaches Training to provide a better player development model.
- Only offering Regional and National Teams raises the level of expectation as well as accountability for all players and families.
- Ability to train together more often with the same coaching model and theories, increasing the chance for teams to be challenged by other teams in the club at every age level.
- One centralized administrative system allowing Directors and Coaches to focus on the athletes, while providing timely information to parents/guardians.
- Ability to keep teams competitive if there is an absence or injury on one team.
- Opportunity to provide additional dates and training to players who want "More."
- Overall increased visibility for players on BOTH the North and South shore.
a. No. All teams will wear MGA gear for training and competition. EVO Gear will be available through EVO Academy Programming.
a. Yes, the people you know and love will be joining the MGA North family and also helping out with the EVO Academy programming.
b. We are always adding new faces and personalities to the mix!
a. No. MGA North teams will be training and practicing on the North Shore. However, we will continue to have reciprocal playdates and in-house trainings from time to time which will require players and families to take a trip either from the South or the North to our other facilities.
a. Players who have been offered spots to return to their teams will remain with that team and tryouts will be held to fill vacancies.
b. In the event there are enough players to fill another team at one level, players will be notified and consulted. Players are not required to accept a spot if offered a different opportunity.
a. Not as a rule. Both MGA North and MGA South will operate together as separate training groups.
b. There may be times when we will offer a "Superteam" option for specific tournaments as needed.
a. Of course. MGA NORTH players are an extension of the greater EVO family. Players will register for EVO Academies directly through the EVO site. Advanced Academy programs appropriate for Regional and National team members run on Wednesdays 7-9pm and Saturday 3-5pm; 5-7pm at Bando Performance.
